The only problem with these little 2 seaters was the underpowered engine. This 57 Austin has addressed that problem in a huge way. Gone is the inadequate 6-cylinder engine and in its place, is 375 HP 350 cubic inch piece of American muscle. Pulled from an 86 Corvette and completely gone through, this small block is right. The TPI ignition was pulled and in its place, is a dual quad setup that not only performs but looks good while doing it. The paint and body work on the car is extremely clean and shows extremely well. The brightwork is a nice contrast against the white paint and gives the car a very finished look. Peek inside in the cockpit and the black interior is just as clean. The buckets upfront are period correct and look right at home. The shifter is in the original spot and looks like a 4 speed but is an automatic. Yes, that’s right the shifter is hooked up to a built TH400 making this car an absolute pleasure to drive. Just simply hit the gas and hold on. Granted you may need to keep it pointed straight but you get the idea.
