VEHICLE DESCRIPTION

Used 1968 Pontiac Firebird for sale in Houston, Texas

Gateway Classic Cars Houston showroom is excited to announce this Sunburst Orange 1968 Pontiac Firebird race car for sale. This is a true beast: sporting a 565 CID Reher-Morrison V8 with 1000HP normally aspirated horsepower, plus a 600HP Nitrous fogger system, youll be ready for some ridiculously low E.T. timeslips. The big 565 is backed by an air-shifted, all-aluminum BTE Racing Transmission Sportsman 3-speed automatic (with trans-brake) thats been fitted with a Neal Chance bolt-together torque racing torque converter. These NCRC converters feature removable pump and drive covers, which allow you to change the stator at the track! Topping the R-M 565 is a fully blueprinted and tuned 1200 CFM Dominator carb thats fed by a MagnaFuel 500 electric fuel pump, which ensures plenty of fuel delivery to this fire-breathing monster. An MSD racing ignition system provides the enhanced spark needed to get things lit off and keep the massive spark delivery thats needed to the plugs. A custom set of ceramic-coated Lemons headers scavenge the exhaust gases. The rear end is a built Ford 9-inch spool rear end with hardened 31-spline axles and 4.30:1 gears, ensuring a reliable, hard launch and plenty of top end capability. Keeping the enormous mill cooled is a massive aluminum radiator, CSR aluminum electric water pump, and Flex-O-Lite radiator fan. A complete Painless wiring harness and rocker-switch control panel provides complete control of this race cars starting and shutdown sequences and is virtually foolproof. Once you get launched, youll appreciate the tubular front control arms and rack and pinion steering, which will help you keep this monster straight and true for the quarter. At the end, the chute will assist the Wilwood disc brakes (at all 4 corners) haul you down to a safe turn-off speed. Theres no doubt youll appreciate the extended wheelie bars out back, because without them, youd be skidding down the track on the roof of this car after about 50 yards. The ultra-lightweight Billet Specialties Comp Series wheels up front have a set of M/T ET 26.0/4.5-15 drag race skinnies on them, and the rears are competition Centerline Racing wheels with some massive 31/10.5-15W M/T drag slicks that only have a few passes on them. Inside, the driver will notice (and appreciate) the well-equipped gauge pack, with twin fuel gauges and a nitrous gauge under the cowl hood; plus oil pressure, water and trans temp, voltmeter, and giant 10,000 AutoMeter tach (with memory) in the center of the cockpit are all angled nicely for the driver. The drivers Kirkey racing seat is outfitted with a G-Force Pro Series racing harness, which will keep things well-buckled in during those very quick runs down the track. Of course, to support the 600HP nitrous fogger system, you will need a giant nitrous bottle, which youll have along as your passenger...much more fun than having 2 seats! If you want a true racer that has been extremely well thought out and is ready to win races, this is the car for you. Available as a bill-of-sale only (no title/not street legal) race car, this is what you want to buy now, and take it to your first racetrack winning experience!
