Approximately 3,000 miles have been put on this beauty, and it shows! Turn the key, hit the starter button and the healthy V8 rumbles to life. Pop the shifter into drive and cruise with the aggressive rumble one would expect from a set of “glasspack mufflers. The rear axle is a Chrysler unit from a ¾ ton truck sporting 3.23 gears for good economy without compromising too much performance. The Wildfire red paint has held up well and matches the interior with contrasting gray. Power steering was added as well as a Mustang-II style front suspension, which makes for a very pleasant drive. Adding to comfort, the front brakes were converted to disc. Though the truck is quickly closing on 70 years old, it drives like a much newer vehicle thanks to all the quality add-ons.
