Debuting all the way back in 1967, Pontiac unveiled the Firebird, a competent pony car, brother to the Camaro and fellow competitor to the well-known and mighty Ford Mustang. The Firebird would see many changes over the years but one thing is for certain, they all looked good. The Firebird would see 4 generations that would span 35 years. Here we have a 97 Model, last year before the refresh. The black paint and charcoal colored cloth interior are in good order. The power convertible top works well and can be seen operating in the video. This Firebird does have the WS9 RPO code indicating a real Firebird Formula; however, this car is far from original. Under the hood is the believed original 5.7L V8 and backed by a 6-speed manual transmission. The build of this car is extensive, lets get into it. This Firebird is stated to be bored and stroked to near 400ci! Stock block with Billet Splyde, ARP Fastners, 4340 Crank, AFR Heads, 3.85 Stroke, 4340 Ibeam Rods, SRP Pistons, Hydraulic Cam, LT4 Intake Manifold, 58mm Throttle Body, Hooker Full Linked Headers, Flow Master 4in Exhaust Kit, Ceramic Puck Clutch Disc, 33 Spline Adjustable Struts and Roll Cage. She also boasts a Mosser 12 Bolt Rear End with 3.73 Gear Ratio. Power is stated to be at 535 horsepower!!! The amount of money put into this car is staggering. It runs and drives very well, has strong acceleration and a great exhaust note. Per the owner, there is a safety on reverse to kick it out of gear should you miss 5th because of the close gate. So youll have to hold the shifter with pressure in reverse. Current owner bought it from a friend to help out not really needing the car. The Autocheck is clean, no accidents.
