The engines were conservatively rated at 360 horsepower making these some of the fastest thunderbirds produced to date despite their increased size and luxury. For the 5th generation thunderbird, Ford decided to give them a larger platform and start moving them closer to Lincoln as the company chose to emphasize the “luxury aspect of these cars. The interior shows just that, a spacious and plush cabin that you would find in some of the most sought after luxury cruisers of its time.
