VEHICLE DESCRIPTION

Used 1970 Plymouth Superbird for sale in Coral Springs, Florida

Gateway Classic Cars is excited to offer this Stunning 1970 Plymouth Superbird Tribute. This winged warrior started life as a Satellite, and transformed into what you see during restoration. Priced a real Superbird lately? Well, one will set you back more than a quarter million bucks for a good one and over half a million for a real HEMI car. Heres a nice tribute you can do what you want with- cruise the freeway (just for fun ;), hit the shows, or beat it to death for half the price and not worry about destroying a piece of history. In the late 1960s, Dodge (Plymouths cousin), was struggling to compete in NASCAR. Their standard Charger failed to perform well in races due to its large front grille opening that caused the car to have lots of drag and a rear design that created lift. In 1969, Dodge decided to make some major changes to the Charger to compete with others on the track. Dodge redesigned the Charger, adding a tall wing on the cars rear and a new nose cone to improve the cars aerodynamics. The vehicle first debuted at the Talledega 500 and took home first place. Alongside winning the Talledega 500, the Dodge Daytona set a NASCAR record, as it was the first vehicle to go over 200 miles per hour. And get this- dealers struggled to sell them due to the strange appearance. Imagine that. Consequently, Plymouth created the Superbird. The two biggest reasons was to give its own spin on the Dodge Charger Daytona and to lure Richard Petty back to Plymouth. Both of these factors played a crucial role in the vehicles creation and inspired the cars iconic aerodynamic design. Plymouth only produced the Superbird for the 1970 model year and made its mark on automotive history winning many NASCAR races before new rules forced it out of the sport. The driver quality Lime Light color exterior black and silver interior makes this classic look stock. But underneath, youll find a powerful Gen III 2016 Hemi 465 HP V8 under the hood, a six-speed Tremec manual transmission complete with the famous Pistol-Grip shifter, making it one very capable machine. Upgraded with Wilwood disc brakes on all four wheels, with Control Freak Suspension. Other upgrades and options include air conditioning, Dakota instruments, new interior, wood rimmed steering wheel on a tilt Column, optima battery, aluminum radiator, Viking adjustable shocks, Cal-Trac bars, Competition frame connectors, rack and pinion steering, 3:92 True Trak rear, TTI headers, stainless steel exhaust with Flow Masters and more!
