Though its clear that sportiness was a part of Fords vision for the car, Thunderbirds were marketed as Personal Luxury Cars and had an emphasis on comfort, convenience and technology as a result. The 57 was particularly well received with 21,380 examples sold that year (around 25% more than in 1955 and 56).
