Nearly three decades would pass before any thunder and performance returned to the model with the introduction of the Turbo Coupe. The 1987 Ford Thunderbird Turbo Coupe was a fresh take on American-made cars with a focus on drivability and technological advancements. It was a sleeker car and was a bold new direction for the Thunderbird nameplate. (Hotcars.com) The Turbo Coupe featured a 2.3l 4-cylinder engine that produced 190hp which was only 30hp less than the 5.0l Mustangs.
